人口數約有1萬1千多人,主要分佈於臺東地 區。社會組織以母系社會為主,男子會所為 政治中心及教育場所,未婚男性必須居住在 會所接受軍事訓練以防衛部落,並依照年齡 分為數個年齡階級。
Puinan
The population is about 11,000, mainly distributed in the Taitung area. The social organization is mainly matriarchal, with the men's club serving as the political center and educational site. Unmarried men must live in the club to receive military training to defend the tribe, and are divided into several age classes according to age.
