Rock of Cashel
The Rock of Cashel, Co. Tipperay is a remarkable outcrop of limestone and it was the seat of Munster kings from 370 A.D. until 1101, when King Murtagh O'Brien granted the Rock to the Church. St. Patrick visited Cashel in 450 A.D. and baptised there King Aengus. The buildings on the Rock include a 10th century Round Tower, Cormac's Chapel, the Cathedral, the Hall of the Vicars Choral and St.Patrick's Cross, as well as some modern tombs and enclosing walls.

Most visitors come to see the ecclesiastical remains of the famous Rock of Cashel which dominates the town on the north. Cashel is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding country. Salmon and trout fishing is available on the River Suir and there are many other places of interest in this area to suit all tastes.

Galway is situated near the head of a large bay, and is the principal city of Connacht. The streets and buildings of this ancient town have many interesting features and its position on the fringe of the Western Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking area) make it the obvious gateway to Connemara, and entrancing countryside where the ancient language and customs of Ireland are preserved.
