Luxembourg, officially the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (French: Grand-Duché), is a landlocked country in western Europe, bordered by Belgium, France and Germany. It has two principal regions: the Oesling in the north as part of the Ardennes massif, and the Gutland ("good country") in the south. Luxembourg has a population of 512,353 (as of February 2011) in an area of 2586 sq km. A representative democracy with a constitutional monarch, it is ruled by a grand duke.
Luxembourg is a trilingual country: German, French and Luxembourgish are official languages.
The people of Luxembourg are called Luxembourgers. The immigrant population increased in the 20th century due to the arrival of immigrants from Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, and Portugal, with the majority coming from the last: in the 2001 census, there were 58657 inhabitants with Portuguese nationality.
