The Nymph of Lake Carezza

Rainbow water of Lake Carezza

Lake Carezza was named in legend the rainbow water, due to its multiple reflections. A splendid nymph lived in the lake, she sang along the shore and immersed herself in hurry when someone approached. Only good children and forest spirits could see her sometimes. An evil wizard fell in love with the Nymph and could not resist possessing her. So I turn into a lake viper. But the birds alerted her with their agitated chirping.

The witch Striöna of the Catinaccio gave the wizard good advice: "Make a wonderful rainbow appear over the lake and transform yourself into the King of the forest, you will see that she, intrigued, will come closer. Bring with you a large bag containing precious and shiny stones and leave them fall into the water and the Nymph will not be able to resist the temptation to swim towards you."

The magician followed the witch's advice and when the Nymph swam towards the rainbow he took the bag and approached the lake. But as soon as she saw him he ran away, plunging into the depths of the water. The magician immediately understood that, in his haste, he had forgotten to transform into the King of the forest and in anger he kicked the rainbow which expanded into the lake. Since then, Lake Carezza reflects and shines its fantastic colours.
