Bourguiba Mosque, Monastir

La mosquée Bourguiba est une mosquée tunisienne située à Monastir (rue de l'Indépendance) et dédiée au premier président de la République tunisienne : Habib Bourguiba.

Monastir is the birth town of former president Habib Bourguiba and thus he is remebered in this mosque which contains his mausoleum. Habib Bourguiba was the first president of Tunisia, and although he never was elected by the people in free elections, he is generally considered as the father of modern Tunisia. Bourguiba died in 2000, and was buried here.
