Formosa Station (O5 Station/R10 Station) is located at interchange station for the Kaohsiung MRT Orange and Red lines, located at the junction of Zhong Zheng 3rd Street and Zhongshan 1st Street, designed by Japanese architect Shin Takamatsu. “Prayer" is the concept for its “conch shaped" entrances. Formosa Station is named after the Formosa Incident on December 10, 1979 that shocked the whole Taiwan society and greatly impacted the development of Taiwan's democracy movement. The impressive public art piece at this station is designed by Italian artist, Maestro Narcissus Quagliata who created by hand the dome of light that symbolizes the prayer theme.
